![]() The Kobo Aura H2O features a home screen that is heavily dynamic in nature. In a world of tablets and smartphones, it could be a weird adjustment for people go from that to a sunken screen. On a hardware level my only complaint is that the screen is not flush with the bezel like it is on the Kobo Aura or the Tolino Vision. This model still has the slots in the same place, but has a new waterproof flap that snuggly closes in order to truly make it waterproof. Prior models of the Kobo Aura and Kobo Aura HD has the MicroSD, MicroUSB and status indicator light on the bottom. Basically, if you max your storage, you can store over 30,000 books on your e-Reader and not have to charge it for up to two months. ![]() It ships with 4GB of internal storage and can be expanded further via a MicroSD for up to 32GB of additional memory. Underneath the hood is a Freescale i.MX507 1GHZ processor and 512MB of RAM. During underwater tests I found that even completely submerged in water, you can still turn pages and access the core functionality. This makes the H2O the most complete, well-rounded device the market and eliminates the need to send off your reader to a third party and pay over $60 for them to waterproof it for you. It will basically allow users to have the e-Reader completely submerged in five meters of water for an hour, with the MicroUSB and MiscroSD ports closed. Kobo has managed to attain the prestigious IP67 certification for their first waterproof device. It shines upwards, insuring even light distribution and makes it easier to devour books without eye strain. Unlike a smartphone or tablet that has an LCD screen that emits light from behind a layer of film, the H2O has five LED lights on the bottom of the bezel. One of the main benefits of the H2O e-Reader is the ability to enjoy eBooks, graphic novels or newspapers in lowlight conditions or complete darkness. Instead, it is employing Infrared technology from Neonode. The Aura HD and Aura H2O e-readers are not using a capacitive touchscreen display, which means it does not have pinching and zooming capabilities. ![]() This allows for faster page turns and the ability to turn pages in a digital book, without the need of constant screen refreshes. Carta Imaging Film offers a 50% improvement in contrast ratio over previous generation of e-Paper displays. We spoke to Kobo CEO Michael Tamblyn in prelude to the formal unveiling and he mentioned that “The H2O follows the same design principles of the Kobo Aura. It was designed to be able be completely submerged in five meters of water, for up to fifty minutes, which finally allows users to safely read in the bath and beach. The brand new Kobo Aura H2O e-Reader is the most complete device the Toronto based company has ever released. They have slowly been evolving their product line to fall in line with the quintessential five B’s of bookselling Bath, Backyard, Bedroom, Bus and Beach. Kobo has an obsession on what constitutes the perfect e-reading experience and they have been feverishly working towards this ideal. ![]() Cost of goods sold schedule Under the FIFO method Date of purchaseĬost of Ending Inventory Under the FIFO method Date of purchaseĬ. 12,460Ĭost of ending inventory = WAC * Units on hand = 6.23 * 600 = Rs. ![]() Weighted average Cost (WAC) = Cost of goods available for sale / Units available for sale = 16,200 / 2,600 = Rs. The easiest way to get mesh units is thru this website. There are several ways to get a WiFi Mesh system from PLDT: How do I know where to place my WiFi Mesh units? One unit will be plugged directly to your modem while the other units may be distributed throughout the home. Two WiFi Mesh units per floor would be the optimum number of mesh devices especially for houses that are 150 square meters or more. One unit will be plugged directly to your modem and the other can be distributed throughout your home, following the above recommended distance between mesh units. Large bungalow, two-storey home or townhousesįor best results, we recommend atleast 3 WiFi Mesh devices. One unit will be plugged directly to your modem and the other can be placed in a spot in the area which the WiFi signal from your modem does not reach. Two WiFi Mesh units should be enough for this type of home. But here are the recommended WiFi Mesh setups per type of home: We recommend having one mesh device per 100 square meters or 1,000 square feet for sufficient and effective WiFi coverage. What do I need to start putting together my WiFi Mesh system? WiFi Mesh systems are perfect for large homes, households with multiple devices that engage in bandwidth-hungry activities. Overall, WiFi Mesh systems are smarter and more intuitive, have better coverage, are more convenient to use and have a lot more useful and relevant features vs. WiFi Mesh systems, however, have so much more to offer as they come with features like Parental Controls and Guest WiFi. WiFi Extenders simply address WiFi signal issues in your home. Meanwhile, Mesh Systems come with user-friendly apps, which have a step-by-step, visual setup guide setup and through the app, users can conveniently manage the network, even outside the home. Managing and configuring it can also be inconvenient as you will be required to access the software through a webpage, while connected to your network, in order to change the settings or install updates. Setting up a WiFi Extender can be a challenge as it needs to be manually configured to work with your router. Mesh Systems, on the other hand, offer a seamless roaming experience as devices are able to automatically connect to the closest mesh unit. You will need to manually switch from one network to another depending on which device you are nearest to, which can be inconvenient if you move around the house a lot. In a typical setup that uses an Extender, users often see multiple network names – one network offered by your wireless router and the others offered by the Extenders. This makes WiFi Mesh systems perfect for large homes and multi-level homes. And if additional units are added, the coverage area can be extended further. whereas WiFi Mesh systems can cover areas from 2,000 to 6,000 sq. Typically, extenders can extend WiFi signal by 300 to 2,000 sq. The range that WiFi Extenders can cover is much smaller than that of a WiFi Mesh system. Here are the main differences between the two: However, these two solutions work quite differently. WiFi Mesh systems and WiFi Extenders both work on strengthening WiFi signal and eliminating dead spots in your home. When done correctly, onboarding makes the transition and training process smoother for everyone. “When employees see that you apply their feedback,” she continues, “they will feel more confident in sharing constructive feedback that can improve your onboarding process.” “When you receive feedback, act on it,” Arigbe says. Gallup, only 12 percent of employees strongly agree that their organizations do a great job onboarding new employees. “Periodically touching base with your new hires, asking about their experience, or even just remembering their name and saying hi when you pass in the hallway may help with retention and engagement, which is the whole point of creating a high-quality onboarding experience.”Īs with any new program, there’s always room for improvement. “When you show you’re interested in and care about people, they will have a higher engagement than if you ignore them or assume they’re doing OK,” Ritchie says. They might have to sell the company leaders on the benefits of a more comprehensive program.Īfter structured training and orientation, onboarding might mean occasional check-ins or progress reports to ensure new hires continue to thrive throughout their first year. Solo HR practitioners can seek help with these tasks from business leaders or managers, but they should make sure they have the budget, time and tools (such as training programs and orientation videos) required to create a successful onboarding experience. To be effective, onboarding should begin before an employee’s first day of work and continue for months after the employee has joined the company, says Osasumwen Arigbe, an HR consultant based in the Washington, D.C., area and Nigeria. And it all starts the second a new hire commits to the job. Depending on your company’s size and needs, a successful onboarding program will likely include orientation, job-specific training, introductions, culture acclimation and follow-ups. Orientation activities, such as completing new-hire paperwork and discussing benefits, are just a small part of what onboarding should entail. But orientation is meant to be a one-time event, while onboarding is a process that should last at least 90 days. “Onboarding helps ensure the new hire feels like a valuable member of the team,” which encourages him or her to stay, says Suzanne Ritchie, adjunct professor of HR at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Neb.įor some organizations, onboarding and orientation are one and the same. The first six months are the most critical time after hiring new employees because that’s when 31 percent of new hires are likely to leave, according to a Bamboo HR survey. Scientific evidence indicates that realistic and dynamic training using simulators improves the user’s decision-making, cognitive functions and, consequently, performance and skill in the on-road driving task. To achieve this, they must introduce stimuli for as many senses as possible: sight, sound, balance, smell, touch, etc. The common link in both cases is that the simulator designer always tries to achieve the maximum level of abstraction of reality for the user. As costs decreased, simulators of all types of vehicles began to emerge: flight, ship, car, truck, and submarine, among many others.Ĭurrently, the use of driving simulators is focused on entertainment and training. It was in the 1960s and 1970s when, with the advent of digital computers, the simulators known as full-motion appeared, which besides recreating a virtual scenario, simulated the accelerations that occurred. Since then, all the technologies involved with simulators (graphics, audio, projection, motion, steering wheels, sensing) have evolved in an extraordinary way. The first simulators that were created were airplane simulators, developed by the U.S. In recent decades, technological devices and graphics-based simulators with various functionalities have been developed to meet the needs of users. In this sense, adequate training and education of drivers are essential to achieve a real awareness of the dangers of the road and to provide all the tools necessary to prevent traffic accidents. ![]() Data indicate that more than 90% of crashes are due to the human factor, as road users commit infractions or engage in risky behaviors with fatal consequences. ![]() Governmental entities worldwide develop prevention measures and strategies to reduce road accidents and mitigate the devastating effects of this problem. ![]() Road traffic accidents are a global problem with social, economic and public health repercussions. These events are considered by experts to be of vital importance for the outcome of a learning process in the simulator to be adequate. Still, there are three events where the accelerations are lost. The input to the system has been qualitatively compared with the output, observing that most of the simulation adequately reflects the input to the system. This paper shows a case study where a BMW 325Xi AUT fitted with a sensor, recorded the accelerations produced in all degrees of freedom (DOF) during several runs, and data have been introduced in mathematical simulation software (washout + kinematics + actuator simulation) of a 6DOF motion platform. ![]() In the use of these MCAs, there is always information that is lost and, if that information is important for the purpose of the simulator (the training simulators), the result obtained by the users of that simulator will not be satisfactory. Despite the time that has passed since their development, most of these algorithms still use the classical washout algorithm. Since it is impossible to reproduce the accelerations of a vehicle without limitations through a physically limited system (platform), it is common to use washout filters and motion cueing algorithms (MCA) to select which accelerations are reproduced and which are not. Motion platforms have been used in simulators of all types for several decades. ![]() After you activate key on a corresponding platform, you will be able to download and play your game for free. To date, a variety of anti-GD2 mAbs have been investigated in the clinical setting, and ch14.18/CHO (dinutuximab beta), a human/mouse chimeric mAb, has been approved for the treatment of HR-NB and is currently used as first-line treatment after HD-CT and autoSCT. This requires adequate multidrug analgesia to prevent neuropathic pain - the main side effect. GD2 is also expressed in healthy human tissues, but is primarily limited to neurons, peripheral sensory nerve fibers and skin melanocytes. Moreover, these mAbs can activate the classical complement system pathway to elicit complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC). Anti-GD2 mAbs target the tumor-associated antigen (TAA) disialoganglioside GD2 on neuroblastoma cells, mediating ADCC via the Fc domain, which is mainly recognized by natural killer (NK) cells. Targeted immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) has shown significant results in the treatment of patients. The established therapeutic approach for HR-NB consists of multimodal approaches including surgical resection of the primary tumor, induction chemotherapy, high-dose chemotherapy (HD-CT) followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (autoSCT), and radiotherapy as maintenance therapy. High-risk neuroblastoma (HR-NB) and especially refractory or relapsed (R/R) disease still represent a therapeutic challenge, displaying poor cure rates with standard protocols, reporting a 3- and 5-year event-free survival (EFS) of 6–50%. Its prognosis depends on the stage, patient age, molecular characteristics, and response to standard therapy. ![]() Neuroblastoma (NB) is the most common childhood extracranial solid tumor. Consequently, we propose an adjusted administration of both antibody constructs, considering the state of posttransplant immune recovery, to optimize anti-tumor activity. Our study highlights the importance of analyzing effector cell subsets in patients before initiating antibody-based therapy. Using patient PBMCs taken at different time points posttransplant, significant lysis with both constructs was detectable depending on percentages and total numbers of T and NK cells in the early posttransplant phase, NK cells were predominant and ch14.18 was superior, whereas later on, T cells represented the majority of immune cells and NG-CU was more effective. At a ratio of 1:1, ch14.18 was more effective than NG-CU. To decipher the influence of effector cell subsets on lysis, different ratios of T and NK cells were tested. NG-CU showed enhanced cytotoxicity compared to ch14.18, even at lower concentrations and E: T ratios, and completely eradicated LS cells after 72 h. Mean specific lysis of LS cells utilizing PBMCs from healthy donors and ch14.18 (1 µg/ml) was 40/66/75% after 12/24/48 h compared to 66/93/100% in the presence of NG-CU (100 ng/ml). Different antibody concentrations and effector-to-target ratios ( E:T) were evaluated using xCELLigence RTCA system, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) (healthy donors and patients after alloSCT), and neuroblastoma cell lines (LS/LAN-1). We investigated whether T cell-recruiting bispecific anti-CD3/GD2 antibody NG-CU might be an alternative to therapeutic anti-GD2 monoclonal antibody (mAb) ch14.18, mediating complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC) and antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) through natural killer (NK) cells for immunotherapy in high-risk/relapsed neuroblastoma after autologous/allogeneic stem cell transplantation (auto/alloSCT).
